When Should a Family Consider Therapy?
Open Arms Clinical Team, LCSW, LCPC, PMHNPJuly 5, 20261 min read
When one member of a family is struggling, everyone feels it. Family therapy widens the lens.
Consider it when
- Communication has broken down
- The same conflict cycles on repeat
- A major transition is coming (divorce, blended family, illness)
- A child or teen is in treatment
- Substance use or mental illness is affecting the household
What to expect
Structured first session, clear goals, weekly or bi weekly meetings, and specific practices between sessions.
