Open Arms Clinical Team, LCSW, LCPC, PMHNPJuly 5, 20261 min read
Depression is not simply feeling sad. It is a persistent shift in how you think, feel, and function.
Common signs
- Persistent low mood for two or more weeks
- Loss of interest in activities that used to matter
- Sleep or appetite changes
- Low energy, low motivation
- Difficulty concentrating
- Feelings of worthlessness or guilt
- Any thought of self harm
What helps
Effective care usually combines therapy (CBT, IPT, or behavioral activation), medication when appropriate, movement, sleep repair, and social connection. Higher acuity may benefit from PRP or IOP.
Getting started
An intake screening confirms what is going on and matches you to the right level of care. Same week intake is available at Open Arms.
Common questions
How long until therapy for depression starts to work?
Many clients feel some relief within four to six weeks of consistent therapy. Medication timelines vary; discuss with your prescriber.
